Légère rieten worden gemaakt van een synthetisch materiaal dat zich gedraagt als riethout in natte toestand. Légère rieten hebben geen poriën, waardoor ze ongevoelig zijn voor vuil en veranderingen in vochtigheidsgraad. Légère rieten hoeven dus ook niet te worden ingespeeld.
